Monsters and Valentines!

Saturday was the 2nd annual West School Barnes and Noble book and art fair to raise money for our service club. I selected kdg, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade art for display... the sculptures (both felt and paper mache') looked awesome in the windows!

For this event, teachers and students volunteer to read off and on all day in the story area- I read Art and Max and Guess How Much I Love You... Kieran was a bit of a distraction as he would prefer to be in charge and read to the kids rather than listen to mommy ;)

Kindergarten Kandinsky circles.
3rd grade pop art monster prints hanging in the children's section.

Of course the first item on Kieran's agenda was to play trains- but eventually Rick was able to lure him away from Thomas and the gang long enough to make a cute little Valentine craft.

Hard at work ;)

His B&B Valentine is hanging on the fridge now ;)

Here, Kieran is "reading" a Curious George story to this little girl- she thought he was pretty funny ;)

After story time, we had lunch out at Love Sushi- Kieran was a big fan of Rick's teriyaki chicken and rice- he also ate a california roll and some tempura veggies... mmmm!

After it cooled a little, Kieran really liked the tea too.

The best part of the meal was the little orange dessert with a cat face- he carried this around all afternoon until it finally fell apart ;)
After lunch, Rick headed back home to do some cleaning and Kieran and I went to my school to do some painting in preparation for his Valentine's party this Tuesday.

Artist in action!

Mixing colors...

Stamping...

Preparing the stamp...

A finished painting...
After the paint dried I cut each poster-board into hearts that Kieran will pass out for his Valentine's cards.
A finished Valentine with heart crayon attached :)

One of Kieran's favorite pass times in my classroom is to "play" with my beta.

We also made Kieran's V-day mailbox- a monster... of course! Kieran helped to paint the green base coat and sponge on the yellow and gold texture- he loves putting mail in it's mouth :)

When we got home Kieran had a package from Auntie Joyce waiting for him- a Dinosaur Train book and some yummy candy- Kieran's favorite? The GIANT chocolate "K"- he downed that in minutes!

Rick and I went out last night to celebrate V-day a bit early and NeNe Orange came over to hang out with Kieran. I wore a vintage 60's dress- probably a bit over dressed for 44 Stone and East Side Tavern and a bit under dressed for the sub-freezing temps... but it's fun to get gussied up every now and again :)

After all these years, we are still very much in love and so happy to be each other's valentine's.

Couch time

A little snuggle time with Neko this morning on the couch.

Warm milk and a sweet puppy- the perfect way to start the day!

Kieran and his new monster friend I made him, watching Monster's Inc. before dinner tonight.

February weekend...

Kieran and Presley played dress-up while watching some Glee with the family- I am very impressed with Kieran's sense of style ;)

Mmmmm... cheese!

The kids "working" on their magnetic sketch pads- in a decorative chest- of course.

Presley LOVES Glee- Kieran wasn't as impressed- no robots or monsters ;)

"Dear diary..."
Playing trains Saturday morning- sans pants... again ;)

Kieran was invited to Camden's sister's 1st birthday- they had a great time playing and running wild!

Michelle made a yummy brunch and carrot cake cupcakes- too bad the boys didn't eat much other than the frosting and some strawberries ;)

The group shot was so funny- the three girls sat patiently, still and quietly... the boys were a little bit wilder ;)

Best friends!

"Tackle!!"

Mmmm- frosting!

Mmmm... coffee ;)

Kieran on his "puter"- so serious ;)

We are making crayon hearts for Kieran's Valentine's party in a couple weeks- here they are fresh out of the oven- melty, wax goodness!

Cooled and beautiful!

Kieran did a little painting this weekend in between dress-up, play-dates, train-time and "puter" time...
