MLK 2012 Weekend

Kieran found papa's globe from work and in the interest of protecting it from the exuberance of little hands, grandma produced this little treasure she came across at a g-sale this past summer. It's a leapfrog interactive globe and Kieran loves it- he calls it "my earth"!

Here is pointing out where Koshka "lives"- Mt. Fuji... we told him that Shiba's come from Japan and showed him the location on the globe- now he says "this is where Kosha lives!"

What a handsome little boy we have- of course I am biased- but seriously, look at that face!

Kieran cutting a banana for us at the dinner table- he was pretending to  be teacher and told us that the knife was very dangerous and only for teacher ;)

Check out those pink cheeks- Fifth disease has been going around KIM school and I think it finally got Kieran... at least he will be immune after this bout.

We finally got around to painting Kieran's room so it looks more  like a kid's space and less beige... we went with a two-tone sky/grass look with rolling hills. Nana and papa kept Kieran for us so we could get the work done quickly.

Rick had the worst job- edging the ceiling- yuck! He did the entire thing with a tiny little paint brush- it was worth it though, looks great!

The finished result... now to add a train and some other fun stuff to the hills and sky ;)

Snow day 2012!

Snow days ROCK! It was so lovely to wake up this morning at 5:30 to a text from JCPS announcing the closing of schools due to snow! We took the opportunity to sleep in past 7:30, make pancakes, play in the snow, work on craft projects, make a fort and eat home made chicken noodle soup- all in our jammies and comfy clothes! It was the perfect snow day- here's hoping for at least one more before spring's here!
Getting ready to go out... it's quite the process ;)

Snow pants: check. Sweatshirt: check. Snow boots: check. Hat: Check!

Yay for snow!

Throwing snow!

Koshka loves the snow... in fact it brings out the crazy in him!

Attack dog!!

Take down, tears ensue...

Playing with snow the warm way ;)

A very small Frosty.

Mmmmm... Frosty tastes good!

Kieran's favorite way to watch his shows.

Fort building 101- professor daddy's in charge!

Inside the forte :)

Mommy's snow day craft- finish the window covering for Kieran's room- check!

Early January 2012

Kieran's interest in ghosts, monsters and all things "spooky" continues... he saw parts of Ghostbusters recently and is obsessed. He sings the song and talks about the Ghostbusters coming over to his house to get the ghosts in his room- and he never seems scared :) Another favorite past time is giving Rick and I "lessons"- referring to himself as "teacher" as he demonstrates various tasks  and "reads" to us from books, menus and signs... it's adorable!
Today we went to a birthday party for Jenny's sons- Aidan, Jack and Nate. The party was at Flipz- a favorite party place for Kieran and most other kids under the age of 10 or so. Kieran had a lot of fun leading Rick all around the gym, in and out of the foam pit, on and off the trampoline and with all the other fun gym stuff. Of course he also loved the MU cupcakes and ice cream but he had a hard time understanding the gifts were not for him... tears ensued off and on but over all he did well. After the party we had lunch at McDonalds (health food all the way!) and then Kieran played some more there before napping in the car. Tomorrow we have a play date with Camden in the morning... should be fun!
Playing with Corbin...

Daddy and Kieran survey the playland...

"Rib-bit!"

Kieran, Evan and Jacob enjoy their MU cupcakes- mmmm!

Feeding mommy...

Mommy eats so funny!

"Cheese!!"

So long 2011!

To finish up the 2011 year here are a few random pics from the last days of December... it was a great year!
These pics come from Camden's mommy. She had the opportunity to attend the KIM school gift exchange. She said Kieran got to open the first gift because he is the youngest- I bet he was pretty excited!

Here's Kieran with his new bestie Camden- the little boy who moved in to our neighborhood over the winter break- Kieran was thrilled!

We (mostly Rick) helped move Camden's family into their new home. Here the boys enjoy some cookies after all that hard work ;)

Kieran made a couple of darling ornaments at KIM- love the use of Popsicle sticks!

Fingerprint snowmen- so darned sweet!

Kieran likes to sit at the counter with us and "help" with the computer.

We got to go out for New Year's eve this year- Sandy was kind enough to come over and sit for Kieran and stayed LATE so we could ring in the new year at Eastside Tavern!

Merry Christmas!

This is a few days before Christmas, but wanted to share Kieran with all his stuffed friends. He thought they might like to watch a show too ;)

Mmmm- gummybears!

Sugar cookies with Nene Orange...

Pizza and frosting- the perfect dinner ;)

Koshka loves to sleep on Kieran's bed- at least someone uses it!

A little watercolor to kick off the holiday break.
Nana's new karaoke machine sure is fun!

Kieran and Presley play trains Christmas Eve by the tree at my folk's house.

Making sugar cookies at Nana/Papa's house.

The tree Christmas Eve, right after Santa stopped by.

Santa brought Kieran, among other things, a dinosaur village and some wood blocks... lots of little pieces to keep track of and step on- what was Santa thinking?!

Santa and his reindeer really liked our sugar cookies and carrots ;)

Christmas morning- Kieran ran in and said in a voice of disbelief, "Santa brought me... SOMETHING!" Guess he wasn't too sure what to make of the blocks and dino-town ;)

"Dinosaur Train!!"

Santa was a busy guy, he also visited Nana/Papa's and Nene Orange's house with toys for Kieran. Kieran is very excited to put his tool bench and tools to work with Papa very soon!

Presley was also very impressed with the work bench and tools- her favorite was the "working" drill which she repeatedly put in her ear ;)

Playing dinosaurs and trains...

Presley mostly just hoarded the dinosaurs- who can blame her though, Kieran isn't the best at sharing ;)

Auntie Shannon got a portrait of Presley like the one we have of Kieran... in pinks and purples of course ;)

I loved all the expressions on Kieran's face this Christmas- so precious.

Santa brought Kieran a Mac truck from the movie Cars- this has been a favorite and travels with us wherever we go.

Sisters :)

Kieran dumping out his stocking- "Trains!!"

Another priceless face- this time the excitement was over a gummy "hotdog" candy- gross!

We spent the second half of Christmas day at Nene Orange's house.

Kieran and Auntie Joyce discuss some important Christmas business ;)

Jaron and Kieran shared a table for dinner- Kieran mostly played though ;) (That's not the boys' beer ;)

Kieran, Jaron, Jaydon, and Braydon- looks like trouble!

Playing with "Max"

Auntie Angie, uncle Aaron and cousin Livy in the gift hot seat :)

Uncle Zack passing out his gifts- thanks again uncle Zack!

Kieran attempts to open this package with his toes ;)

He gets a little help from uncle Zack and cousin Jaron...

And then dad got in on the action ;)

What is it?? It was a giant cardboard house! Kieran asked Santa for a house and he got it! And it's huge!

Daddy and uncle Zack work together to construct the house...

In the mean time, Kieran opened more gifts- horses from uncle Zack (another gift he told Santa he wanted).

A GIANT Batman car from uncle Aaron- AWESOME!

Auntie Joyce loved her Kieran calendar- who wouldn't? ;)

Doing dishes- my contribution to the holiday feast!

Kieran decided the kitchen floor was the perfect place to read his new Cars book ;)

The house is up! It came with markers so Kieran can be his own painter and interior designer ;)

Livy gets in on the house action ;)

At some point all the cousins took a turn in Kieran's house :)

The lady's- looking snazzy girls!

Auntie Angie reading with our little man- so sweet :)
