Mid September and such

Almost ready to "hatch"...

Any time now...

BUTTERFLY!

Kieran can hardly believe it! After all this time talking about it- the butterfly is finally here! We have successfully raised four butterflies from tiny little caterpillars to big, beautiful monarchs- what a fantastic experience :)

Touch down!

I think he likes it ;)

Helping Papa clean

Papa gives Kieran a boost so he can get the high spots clean too ;)

Checking out the tunnel- spooooooky!

Now there's a boy who loves his Papa ;)

A great big spider in his web down by the pond

Up the ladder...

Look! A pumpkin and gourd! We got these earlier that evening at the Ashland farmer's market- Kieran insisted ;)

Kieran really enjoyed rolling the pumpkin and gourd down the slide- even though he has yet to do so himself ;)

Cousin Presley arrives!

Kieran attempts to help Presley up the slide...

Although Kieran insisted that the pumpkin was all his, he was very eager to share his gourd ;)

Throwing acorns in the gazing pool!

Hmmmm... something is a bit off about this photo ;) Papa invited the kids down to watch a "controlled" burn

Auntie Shannon teaches the kids to do a "hoe-down"

Both the kids love to play in the birdbath

Kissing Nana's bird statue??

Kieran making his tooting sounds- learned this little gem from his auntie- thanks Shannon ;)

An arts and crafts sort of weekend

This weekend we took Kieran to two festivals- the Ashland Fall fest and the Jeff City Arts and Jazz fest. Rick and I took our art clubs on Friday afternoon downtown to participate in the annual Capitol Arts sidewalk chalk contest and so Grandma picked Kieran up from school- which is always a special treat for KP. (BTW- this year West took first place! Cedar Hill won last year- I think we are just going to take turns every year ;) On Saturday morning we took Kieran to the Ashland fall parade and festival where we met Presley, Shannon and my folks. Kieran liked the little parade and loved the flying candy! The kids had fun running around the park and eating kettle corn during the festival while the adults tried to keep up! In the afternoon we drove down to Jeff City so that Rick could create a chalk mural in the Arts and Jazz fest while Kieran and I went to my school to make a couple of paintings as gifts for grandparent's day. After Kieran finished his masterpieces, we met daddy downtown to see his art and Kieran tried his hand at a little chalk drawing too- he prefers painting- the chalk is "too hard!" ;) The weather was beautiful this weekend, despite some pop up showers and we are glad we were able to spend so much of it outside- it has me looking forward to all the other fall festivals coming up this September and October.

Joe came over for dinner this week and Kieran was all over him! They watched Wall-e together and "flew" all over the house together- very cute!
