Hartsburg Pumpkin Fest 2012

Turned out to be a great morning for the pumpkin fest today. We had breakfast at Dotty's Cafe and finished just in time to catch the parade and way too much candy too ;) Kieran was pretty excited about these giant pumpkins too!

kickin' up his boots ;)

Time for a haircut... getting kinda' long again... such pretty hair :)

"Shake, shake, shake!!"

Choosing only two is so hard!

"This one's for you daddy."

"This one's for KIM school!"

Getting geared up to ride a horse...

Despite this apprehensive look, he was actually raring to go!

He loved Smokey and did such a great job on his two passes around the field- such a big boy!

All smiles :)

Eye-Shine!

Kieran is obsessed with nocturtle (that's nocturnal in grown-up)  animals ever since a Halloween episode of Dinosaur Train that has a song about nocturnal troladon dinos and their spooky eye-shine. I think he will probably be a nocturtle (whatever that might look like ;) for trick-or-treating this year. I came across these glow stick glasses in the dollar bin at Target last weekend and bought two pair and as I suspected, they were a HUGE hit! He wore them outside and crawled around like a nocturtle puppy- too cute!

His eye-shine helped him check the mail in the "dark".

"No mail here!"

We used the extra set of glow sticks that came with the glasses in the bathtub that night- also a big hit...I need to order some of these things in bulk ;)

Fun at the Alexander Pumpkin Patch!

Kieran was so excited to spend a couple hours this afternoon at the Alexander pumpkin patch in Rocheport. A good friend of ours from high school- Julia Mees, invited us to join other families and friends at her father's home to pick pumpkins and spend some time outside in the beautiful fall weather. Kieran had so much fun choosing pumpkins, running around with other children, climbing hay bales, digging in the dirt, riding toy tractors, flying a kite and eating sweets- washed down with hot chocolate- of course ;)  A perfect afternoon by any child's standard!

Cutting a pumpkin off the vine...

Ready, set...

Squeeze!!

Tada- the perfect pumpkin! I think he liked the funny shaped ones the best ;)

On top of a hay bale pyramid in the shed.

He just loves rolling in the hay ;)

Hot chocolate break.

Kieran loves spooky stuff :)

Another hot chocolate break with this spooky statue ;)

Trucks in the dirt pile.

Julia's youngest daughter, Lauren, hung out with us for a while- she loved riding in the hay wagon with Kieran ;)

Too cute!

A cookie break this time...

Kieran's first kite-flying session... he flew that butterfly like a pro!
Carving the first pumpkin of the season at Nana and Papa's house...

Scooping out the "guts"!

Look at that exertion...

Mom and Papa get in on the pumpkin fun!
Love this time of year :)

Trying out his Robin Hood costume... fits one more year :)
