An arts and crafts sort of weekend

This weekend we took Kieran to two festivals- the Ashland Fall fest and the Jeff City Arts and Jazz fest. Rick and I took our art clubs on Friday afternoon downtown to participate in the annual Capitol Arts sidewalk chalk contest and so Grandma picked Kieran up from school- which is always a special treat for KP. (BTW- this year West took first place! Cedar Hill won last year- I think we are just going to take turns every year ;) On Saturday morning we took Kieran to the Ashland fall parade and festival where we met Presley, Shannon and my folks. Kieran liked the little parade and loved the flying candy! The kids had fun running around the park and eating kettle corn during the festival while the adults tried to keep up! In the afternoon we drove down to Jeff City so that Rick could create a chalk mural in the Arts and Jazz fest while Kieran and I went to my school to make a couple of paintings as gifts for grandparent's day. After Kieran finished his masterpieces, we met daddy downtown to see his art and Kieran tried his hand at a little chalk drawing too- he prefers painting- the chalk is "too hard!" ;) The weather was beautiful this weekend, despite some pop up showers and we are glad we were able to spend so much of it outside- it has me looking forward to all the other fall festivals coming up this September and October.

Back to school Superman!

Kieran started back to KIM school today. He was very excited to get back see his friends and feed the fish :) His teachers tell us he had a good day and only one accident. Apparently he was so tuckered out that he was asking to go to sleep after lunch- he was asking to get ready for bed tonight too- guess they wear him out at school!

Not happy...

A bit sad still...

Dad's making him laugh...

Happy! Finally a good off to school shot :)

Packing up to go home from school.

Kieran in his classroom in front of the fish tank- he gets to feed them in the morning :)

Mommy and Kieran leaving school- a lovely day, 72* and sunny- perfect day to go back!
On another note, Kiearn has recently become obsessed with Superman and all things super hero. After catching a bit of a Superman movie at my folk's house, he has been saying things like, "SUPERMAN!", "Up, up, up AWAY!", "Superman saves the day!" and "Change up!" (this one means he is "changing" from Clark Kent into Superman! He has been watching old Superman cartoons from the 1940's and Superfriends from the 1970's. Rick's mom (Nene Orange) dug up a bunch of old action figures and Kieran has LOVED playing with Superman, Batman and Aquaman- inside, on the train tracks, outside and even in the tub! He has also taken to wearing capes and "flying" all around the house- which of course is completely adorable- as I am sure you can imagine! We started out with capes made of toilet paper, graduated to dish towels and now Kieran has a personalized cape ordered from Etsy complete with his own "K" emblem- too cute!
Run super boy!

The towel cape :)

"Peep-eye!"

"Change-up!"

Super chef!

Enjoying a dessert in yet another cape, his new superman shirt and sandals- of course ;)

Nene orange helps Kieran get a little more chocolate in ;)

Super Kieran! The new cape came in the mail today!

Super Kieran playing trains in the flower bed.

Eating a yogurt pop while playing with the Bat-Copter!

Too cool!
At the park over Labor Day weekend- perfect weather!

Mmmmm! Shakespears pizza! Kieran eats the meat first, then the cheese and then finally the crust- perfect!

The end of August

Kieran with his "James" underwear on his head, wearing them as a hat. This is a favorite pass-time at nana/papa's house, especially if Presley is there to participate too!

Kieran giving Presley some underwear to put on her head... so helpful ;)

Playing with bubbles in the pool at nana's house

More bubble fun

Nana and papa have been keeping Kieran this week and the last as his school is on summer holiday until after Labor Day. Last Friday, they had Presley over as well and nana decided it would be fun to take both kids to Flipz- of course the kids LOVED this!!

Apparently, Kieran was Presley's shadow the entire morning at Flipz and she had to remind him on more than one occasion to "stop following!" her ;)

Papa is putting in some playground equipment and had a truck load of dirt delivered to help level out the site. As you can imagine, Kieran was THRILLED!

This boy likes dirt so much he swims in it- sometimes he tastes it too ;)

I think this might be a look we will see a lot more of in Kieran's teen years.

Splish!

Splash! Kieran's loves to play in nana's birdbath!

Papa helps Kieran clean some of the dirt off...

That's two very dirty boys!

Kieran at home, jamming to some tunes- School House Rock ;)

He was very into mom's Ipod.
