Happy 36 weeks!

Kieran is 36 weeks old today! These pictures were taken this morning before he went to daycare. As you can see, he spent his time before we left with Grace, our cat with more need for love than she has sense. Yes, that's her tail in Kieran's little hand!
This has been a busy week as we all prepare for the thanksgiving holiday and some well deserved time off work.
We had our security system installed Tuesday and have found it to be very easy to use so far. Mommy is sleeping a little better now;) Daddy has been hard at work doing a little plumbing and other household repairs- go dad!
Kieran got the second half of his seasonal flu shot this week and is getting part one of the h1n1 tomorrow. Perhaps that will ward off any major illness this winter... here's hoping!
We all spent last weekend with Grandma Sandy (to celebrate her birthday), great-aunt Joyce, great-grandma Brey, Uncle Aaron and Aunt Angie and cousins Braydon and Jaron. Kieran loved playing with his cousins and was worn out by the time we left! Thank you again to Grandma Sandy and Auntie Joyce for the lovely baby gifts- Kieran is a very lucky little boy to have such loving and generous family all around :)
No other big happenings to report otherwise... still working on that fourth tooth. Still not saying any recognizable words but babbling a lot. Still not crawling but so very close!

Happy 35 week and 8 month birthday!

Here are a few pictures, in addition to the weekly owl-pal shot from this past month- thanks to Grandma Sandy's camera! Kieran is a whole lot bigger than owl now- and although he's not standing just yet, but it's coming for sure!
Thank you to everyone for their concern and support during this past couple of weeks- they have been rough but it's been a lot easier to get through because of all that you have done to help us.
We will be getting our security system in place very soon as well as a new door and we are looking for our replacement electronics this weekend. Thank you to grandma Sandy, grandma and grandpa D, Aunt Joyce and Uncle Furcin and great-grandma Brey and Gene for their generous support- it is much appreciated :)
We hope everything is well with all of you out there and hope to see you soon during the upcoming holidays.
Take care and lots of love!

It's been a while...

It's been a while since we last blogged, but I have a good excuse... no computer or camera! As some of you may know, we were robbed last Thursday while we were at work. Thankfully, the dogs and cats are fine. Also, thankfully, the thieves didn't tear up the house. They did, however, take our t.v., computer, camera, printer and a few other assorted electronic things. They also destroyed that beautiful old door to our sun porch when they kicked it in- why they didn't just break the glass is beyond me! As you can imagine, that was a rather upsetting experience, not to mention expensive! Thank goodness for insurance and kind and supportive family. We are having a security system installed this week, which will make us all rest a little easier I am sure. Kieran and I spent the weekend at grandma/grandpa D's while Rick cleaned up the house a little and searched the pawn shops (to no avail) for our stuff.
Because of the burglary I didn't get to post last Thursday's weekly birthday pics. I took them that morning and they were on the camera, but now... well you know.
These pics are from my parent's house. This is Kieran's first bath in the tub sans baby-tub. He was a bit apprehensive at first but he soon forgot his fears and thoroughly enjoyed having more space to splash around- plus new bath toys! Kieran is feeling better after his first ear infection and a round of antibiotics. He is talking a lot more this week, new sounds and lots more babeling- Rick and I are loving it!
Well, that's the news that is news here. Take care and lock your doors!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Kieran had a fun first Halloween, despite a cold, teething and a minor fender bender. He spent the morning at MU for yet another baby experiment and then lunch with Grandma Sandy at Arris' Pizza- mmmm! Then it was on to Grandma/Grandpa D's to spend the holiday with family- including cousin Presley, auntie Shannon, Uncle JT and out-of-town family- cousin Lisa and her son Joesph.
Kieran was very impressed with his cousin's costume as well as her new talents- crawling and saying/waving "bye-bye!" Presley is three weeks younger! Time for cousin Kieran to catch up! ;) Everyone loved Kieran's space-man costume and we were glad it still fit- he is getting longer by the minute!
After a delicious meal of soup and corn bread, it was time to head home to greet the trick-or-treaters. Unfortunatly, by the time we made it home, we had missed them all. On our way back to the house, we stopped for candy and as we pulled off the blvd. we were rear-ended by a car full of teenage boys. There doesn't seem to be too much damage- although it sure did scare Kieran and mommy and daddy are feeling a bit stiff today- darned kids!
PS That first picture is what Kieran looked like this time last year... it was Halloween '08 that we found out we were expecting a little boy... time sure has flown- from alien to spaceman!

Happy 33 weeks and thanks to auntie Joycen and uncle Furcin!!!

On Kieran's 33rd week of life, he is sporting an adorable striped, fleece sleeper with bear ears that was an early Halloween gift from his great aunt Joyce and uncle Furcin... doesn't he look just too cute?! They also sent a sweet little puppy sleeper as well, which I am sure we will have a chance to model in another weekly photo-shoot ;) Thanks to Joyce for the clothes and the First Halloween book- Kieran really has enjoyed looking at the pictures!
This has been a crazy week as we had another round of Parent Teacher Conferences which kept us at school till 8 and Kieran at daycare way later than we would like. Thank you to Sheila for keeping Kieran while mommy and daddy were at work- we have the best sitter!
We are all looking forward to a fairly quiet Halloween weekend- with a lot less travel and a lot more peace, quiet and rest. We wish you all the same ;)

Baby's busy weekend

Kieran had a busy, busy weekend! Saturday we left early to St. Charles for a wedding. We stayed with Kieran's grandpa and Kimi at a rental apartment in the retirement community Kieran's great grandmother lives in. We spent some time visiting and then we all got ready for the wedding and headed off to downtown St. Charles. Rick's cosin Danny was married at the conservatory and it was an absoultuly beautiful wedding. Kieran was an angel and of course everyone loved him ;) He had never met any of the extended Rother family and it was so nice to finally introduce him! Rick did, however, take Kieran out mid-ceremony because he decided, once everyone got quiet, that it would be a good time to blow raspberries... not the best sound effect to have on one's wedding video ;)
The reception was a bit dodgy because it was getting late and Kieran didn't get much of an afternoon nap. But all in all, Kieran did fine and mommy and daddy both got to enjoy a delicious dinner followed by amazing cupcakes. We spent the night in St. Charles- Kieran's first overnight away from the house. Although he had a bit of a melt down in the carride back from the reception, once his head hit the pillows, he was out and he slept great even though we were in a strange place!
The next morning it was up and at 'em early again as we rushed home to Jefferson City so mommy could get ready for Lori's babyshower. Kieran also attended this event- just a little late because of his afternoon nap. He had a great time playing with the sherbert container from the punch and the empty bumbo box... good times were had by all!
It was a very fun weekend, but mommy, daddy and Kieran are looking forward to a quieter one coming up... one spent at home with very little travel and no rush!
