Fall photo-shoot... sneak peak

We met my sister and Presley at my parent's this morning for a fall photo-shoot with Nichole Manner of Iris Photography (she took the lovely pictures of Kieran when he was 3 months). We had a great time corralling the babies and practically standing on our heads trying to make them happy and smile! Nichole was once again awesome to work with- professional, prepared and wonderful with the kids. There will be many more pics coming soon, as she has time to go through them all and edit. Don't worry, there are some of Rick too ;)

More fun at daycare!

Spencer has decided she might like Kieran after all... even though he plays with her things and is always hanging around in her space ;) He won't let Tori feed him, but it's okay if Spencer wants to give him a spoonful!

Tori lives very close not only to West but also to Memorial Park- a bonus for Kieran as they visit often- especially now that the weather has been so nice. This park is wonderful for children of all ages- they have two great play places- one for toddlers that is plastic and lower to the ground as well as a huge wooden structure for older kids. Kieran loves to slide, swing and of course monkey around ;)
We just couldn't be happier with Kieran's daycare situation. Tori and her family have been so welcoming and loving. We really feel like Kieran is well cared for and learns so much from spending time with Tori and her children. Our two families spent some time together tonight at the West Chili Supper. Lottie sang with the first grade choir and everyone enjoyed some chili and lots of fun on the school playground.

Fun with new toys...

Grandma hit up some local garage sales and came home with a bunch of great loot! Kieran loves the Dora hacienda and all the little figures and furniture. He also enjoyed pushing around the new baby stroller- after daddy showed him how it was done ;) Kieran also likes the baby-doll- he even gave her lots of kisses.

SOLD!!!

It's official... barring any unforeseen circumstances, we will be moving October 16th and closing October 22nd! The family that is buying our home just signed a contract on their current house and since the inspection went well and all repairs have been made, we are set to go! As of the middle of next month until some unknown (however- hopefully soon) date, we will be living with my parents. Although all parties are a bit anxious about this new situation, we are incredibly grateful to have a place to stay, free of rent, so close to the building site while construction of our new home is underway. We will most likely be living in my parents basement until the spring, but hope to be moved into our own place sometime around Kieran's 2nd birthday. We will keep the blog updated with our progress on the house and life with the grandparents as it unfolds. Until then- we are so excited to have sold our own home within three months and are so thankful for the good luck we had finding our buyers through a family friend. Wish us luck getting the new house built as quickly as possible!

A walk in the park

Here is Kieran with the Busby children... don't you just love the faces of the three little ones and then Lottie's crazy grin?! Kieran actually looks a little annoyed in this shot ;) Tori walked the kids down to Memorial Park to meet Rick and I. We were both completing murals with our art clubs for the annual Jefferson City Jazz Chalk festival. It was a lot of fun and great to have Kieran join us. However, he was rather unhappy when he realized he wouldn't be allowed to make additions to our murals.

September

Kieran had his first (and hopefully last) case of strep this month. It was pretty awful that first weekend. I picked him up on a Friday and he had a fever and it just kept getting worse- especially at night- he was spiking at 106*... pretty scary. Since it was the weekend, we waited to see our pediatrician until Monday. Dr. H. swabbed his throat and sure enough- strep. It's sort of weird because I have never had it and I don't think Rick has either. Poor baby- hopefully this isn't the beginning of a nasty trend. The doc put Kieran on the pink stuff (ampicillian) and he was so much better by the next day. Poor little thing was wiped out though- he slept a ton. He even was dragging himself to his crib and trying to crawl in- a first for KP.

A funny and incompetent parent side note... when I took Kieran to see the dr. I brought along our thermometer because I was worried it wasn't very accurate. I explained how we took his temp both on his forehead and in his ear. He asked to see it, wondering how one thermometer could do both and then said, "Oh- there's a cap." and mommy said, "what cap?" Turns out I had been using it wrong the past 18 month- figures!

It's been a busy, busy month! Kieran is thriving at daycare with Tori and her twins. They play, they dance, they hopscotch, they build with blocks, they go on walks... they have all sorts of fun! Kieran never cries anymore when I leave, sometimes he waves good-bye and sometimes he can't be bothered ;) When Tori brings Lottie to school and sets Kieran down to come see me, he bypasses me entirely and makes a b-line for the gym to hang out with all the big kids! He has grown up so much over these past few weeks- it's pretty amazing.
In the above pictures you can see Kieran having fun with a label- he loves tape too. It's funny how many toys he has and yet what really get's him excited are things like tape, labels, lids, remotes, kitchen items and random bits of trash. A new favorite game for KP is to show me something he knows he's not supposed to have (like a squished cricket) and then take off running- squealing with delight all the while... that is until I catch him and take it away (or he eats it- depends on who's faster!)

These photos are from taco-night. Rick makes AWESOME tacos and fresh guacamole. As you can see, Kieran loves taco night too!

Okay- so not a Kieran picture- but one to let you know he hasn't run the cats off just yet! Although- even Gracie has learned to get up on things these days. Kieran's enthusiasm for cats and all creatures really- is pretty intense.

Look ma... a spoon!

Thank you to Tori for teaching Kieran to eat with a spoon from a bowl! In a stroke of genius, Tori decided that Kieran should be able to eat cearal for breakfast with her children so she added some yogurt to the cheerios, gave him a spoon and let him at it! This morning when I tried to spoon-feed KP his yogurt and cheerios concoction, he refused but when I let him do it himself... well he truly surprised me! He is turning into a little boy right before my eyes! We are so proud and so very thankful to Tori for teaching him things we didn't even know he was ready for!
