Happy 3rd birthday big boy!

Kieran celebrated his third birthday this weekend with a three-day extravaganza of family, friends, sweets, gifts and fun! Saturday we celebrated his birthday a bit early at the YMCA gym. The entire event was monster themed, complete with creepy cupcakes, ghoulish goody bags, and menacing, monster decor! The kids spent over an hour running wild in the gym and then settled in to enjoy treats and gifts in the party room. Kieran was in great spirits and had so much fun visiting with all his friends and family. Of course he and Camden were practically inseparable the entire time but Kieran did manage to spend some time playing with Presley, Livy, Reece, Ava, Anthony, Jacob, Evan, Sam, Corbin, Avery, Nate, Jack, and Aidan too ;)

The birthday invite set the monster tone...

Setting up...

Monster center piece courtesy 5th grade paper mache' project ;)

Fantastic cupcakes from HyVee... each one was unique! The monster goodie bags included a bendable monster pal, monster bubbles, make-a-monster-sticker-set, and a monster sucker- thank you Oriental Trading Company!

We have used this sign for Kieran's past two birthdays... but the felt monsters were added this year for the theme.

Monster sign- another West school project ;)

The kids checking out the loot...

The birthday boy during the birthday song... so cute!

Blow out the candles big boy!

Success!

Mmmmm.... monster eye tastes great!

Ice cream too- of course.

Kieran opening one of his favorite gifts- a talking, moving Hulk doll (action figure) from "Uncle" Joe- awesome!

A new favorite book- lots of monster goodies this year!

Yes- dad was there too ;)

Livy loves "Uncle" Rick!

Princess Presley (Kieran has since claimed this lovely tiara as his own ;)

Mark plays along with the boys... "trick or treat!"

Sam and Kieran take a ride!

Now Camden and Kieran help push!

Hula-hoops (a.k.a. Kryptonian prison).

Livy is in foam cube heaven :)

Jacob?? making his way out of the pit!

The boys on the trampoline- not sure they are making the best use of this device ;)

Joe and Rick enjoying their monster cupcakes :)

Kieran and his giant #3 balloon- he loves this thing!

In the back yard with the balloons...

Right after a balloon popped and right before he decided maybe it would be a good idea to inside after all.
On Sunday NeNe Orange, Auntie Joyce and Uncle Furcin came by for lunch and some quality time with the birthday boy. Joyce brought sandwich fixings and salads and we had left over cupcakes with ice cream for dessert. Kieran had a great time opening yet more gifts and "fishing" in a glass of water with Auntie Joyce ;)

Kieran at the buffet ;)

Tossing tissue papers- he loves that!

Opening a horse from Auntie Joyce...
Joyce gave Kieran two horses that belonged to her and Sandy as children- here Kieran is having them kiss :)

Kieran loved his golf set from NeNe Orange- too bad he has to fight Koshka for the balls!

Mommy trying to figure out how to get the fish game to work ;)

Kieran got two Chugginton cards- even though he doesn't have any of the toys and has never seen the show- he loved the cards- he has been "playing" the musical one the past two days!
"This one?"

"Yup! That one!"

Dad and Kieran enjoy their monster cakes together :)

"Mmmm! Frosting!"

Playing with the fishing game at the table ;)
The monster sign is hanging in Kieran's bedroom doorway right now- hated to throw it out right away :)

On Monday, Kieran's actual birthday, March 12th, we took him to see The Lorax at the Hollywood 14 Theaters. He did great! He held his little popcorn pack the entire time in his lap while he quietly watched the show. By the end of the movie he was covered in monster-sucker sticky and popcorn bits and he was thrilled! After the movie he spent an hour playing in the arcade- no money was spent there however- Kieran doesn't need to pay to enjoy his time with video games. He made up all sorts of scenarios (mostly involving Spiderman, Iceman and a t-rex) while he ran from a driving game to a dance game to a dinosaur hunting game and back again!  It was priceless- literally and figuratively! We finished the night grilling out and enjoying the fantastic early spring weather. What a perfect three-day-birthday-bash!
